baby steps

Enjoy these few 2-3 second clips of Braden's first steps! It is so amazing to watch him get up and go, and Bill & I have both definitely gotten teary-eyed over it!

GOOD
(Braden trying steps at 8 months- is it wrong to laugh at your child taking a nose dive?)

BETTER
(Just a few days after the walking started, he thought he could run already!!!)

BEST
(Now, at 9 months, he's almost mastered it)

Happy 9 Months Braden!

Braden weighed in at 21 pounds, 9 ounces at his 9-month appointment.

He has learned so much in his eighth month that we are very eager to see what his 9th month will have in store for us. His new tricks are clapping, pointing, taking steps, standing up without pulling on anything, giving hugs and kisses, and eating table food. Is it just us, or does he seem like a really big boy now? Really big, and really, really, out-of-control cute?!

Another myth busted

I told myself I'd lose the baby weight in 3 months (mind you, two days before I delivered I weighed in 60 pounds heavier than when I'd begun).

When, in 3 months, I was still wearing my maternity clothes, I changed the plan to 6 months. 6 months seemed like plenty of time for my body to go back to what it looked like pre-baby.

After six months of rigorous exercise and dieting, and still not being able to get over the hump of losing that last 10 or 15 pounds, I temporarily gave up.

I got back on the horse, though, bound & determined for one thing- to wear a bikini again on our family vacation (which I had wisely planned for the very last week of the summer).

Braden is almost 9 months old now, and I think I'm finally there. I guess no matter how high or unrealistic you set the goal for yourself, the old saying is true- "it takes nine months to gain it, and it will take nine months to lose it." Anything you hear differently, is just a myth.

Well, just short of nine months- I made my goal, and I made it GOOD!

Vacation was great.

Braden and I enjoyed all 10 days of it, Bill got to join us for 7 of them, Bill's brother and his family joined us for 4 of them, my mom joined us for 3 of them, and I spent 3 of them with grandparents.

All the numbers add up to a relaxing and fulfilling time away from home.

I can't wait to do it again.
